  1. The Sirens Of Titan

    Kurt Vonnegut

    Book

I was a late bloomer when it came to reading, despite my dad's hopes. But when I finally got around to it in highschool, this book hooked me so tightly and opened my mind and heart to how a written story can truly transport you across the universe and wrench your heart at the same time.

  2. The Secret of Monkey Island

    Lucasfilm Games

    Game · 1990

THE game that started it all for me. I obviously played video games before it, but the art style, the mechanics and the story pulled me in so deep. It was the first time I felt I was truly the protagonist, a wannabe kid who wishes to become a mighty pirate.

  3. The Prestige

    Film · 2006

There are many movies I loved before this one, but along with Memento, it fundamentally changed how I regard cinema. I find the story structure to be so tightly constructed, every re-watch only adds more value as I notice yet another beautify in its craftsmanship.

  4. Married... with Children

    Show · 1987

I have many comedy influences, but this one will forever feel like it spoke my inner language. Raunchy, cynical, dysfunctional - it was such a breath of fresh air compared to all the other sitcoms that were showing at the time. I loved how unapologetic it was, putting the comedy as its top priority and not apologizing for it.

  5. System of a Down

    System of a Down

    Album · 1998

Powerful, angry, crazy, breaking the mold. This album felt personal and listening to it felt like I was defining something of my own. A taste for something that wasn't necessarily "okay" by adult standards. Luckily my parents weren't policing my music so I was able to really explore and find my taste.
