About
Why I made Aficionado
I love playing video games, watching films and TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. Aficionado grew from a simple frustration: the things I loved could be surprisingly hard to remember.
I never kept much of a journal about what I played, watched, read, or listened to. Unless something reminded me of a particular title, whole experiences stayed just out of reach. Then, out of nowhere, one would resurface and I would think: wow, what an experience Mina the Hollower was.
I started jotting down loose lists in my Notes app: games I liked, movies I enjoyed, and anything else that came to mind. It helped, but everything was scattered, awkward to find, and not especially satisfying to revisit.
I kept imagining a single place where I could start typing whenever I remembered something, find the right title, and immediately see its artwork and details—not as a dry list, but as something that could bring the memory back to life. Aficionado is exactly the thing I wanted.
A place of your own
Search for a title and Aficionado brings in its artwork and details. Add a Reflection about why it matters, record a meaningful date if you have one, and slowly build a living Profile of the things that touched and shaped you.
It is not a rating system, a review site, or an exhaustive log. It is a personal place for what you want to remember.
Scrapbook and Radar each start Public, and you can make either one Private from its Profile tab. Your username, display name, bio, and picture remain visible. Lists have separate Public and Unlisted settings; anyone with an Unlisted List’s link can open it.
Why ‘Aficionado’
An aficionado has a deep, thoughtful affection for a subject. The name is about enthusiasm, not expertise: you do not need to know everything or defend your taste. Caring deeply is enough.
What comes next
Right now, I am focused on making this simple act of remembering feel good. Later, I want Aficionado to become a place for the things still ahead of you too: recommendations from friends and intriguing titles you want to explore.
